About Grand Turk

Charming Historic Island of the Turks and Caicos

Grand Turk vacations are about beautiful beaches, stunning turquoise oceans and the island’s historical charm, and you can make your Turks & Caicos vacation as relaxed or energetic as you desire! Grand Turk activities include snorkelling, scuba diving, boat trips to outer cays, sting ray encounters, whale-watching (in season), horse riding, bird watching, kayaking, sailing, cycling and walking. Bohio is a Turks and Caicos Resort that promises a hassle-free vacation with a personal service and warm welcome – all in one idyllic spot.

Grand Turk is famous for its lack of crowds and safe relaxed atmosphere and, of course, world-class scuba diving. There are charming ramshackle colonial style buildings, restaurants, bars and shops to explore along Front Street.

The Turks & Caicos Islands are easy to get to with daily flights from many US and Canadian hubs into our neighboring island of Providenciales, from there it’s just a short puddle hopper flight to Grand Turk. All you need is a current passport, there are no visas or vaccinations required.

Turks & Caicos vacations offer year-round sunshine with the hottest months being September and October. January through April offers the chance to see the migrating North Atlantic Humpback whales. If whale watching is high on your list then February and March are the best months.

Grand Turk is a safe island to wander around, just look out for the local donkeys, cows and horses that roam the island as well Bohio Resort provides bicycles for guests to use. The Turks & Caicos Islands are relatively conservative by nature so it is respectful to wear appropriate clothing when exploring the town and local shops. The people of Grand Turk are friendly and welcoming and after a week here you’ll feel like part of the community.

As well as the activities mentioned above, be sure to check out the Lighthouse at the northern point of the island which offers spectacular views along the length of Grand Turk and the famous reef, which was the cause of many shipwrecks in olden days. A Grand Turk vacation is not complete without a visit to The Turks & Caicos National Museum. It is packed with lots of story boards, artifacts and historical background on these fascinating colonial islands.

Cruise ships visit Grand Turk approximately three days each week, and when there is a ship in port it’s fun to browse the local art and craft stalls which open on Front Street. You can visit the Grand Turk Cruise Centre which has lots of high-end shops, and even Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville where you can people-watch and enjoy a delicious cocktail. It’s the Caribbean version of a French cafe!
