Every year from February to April nature puts on a spectacular show just off Bohio’s shore— the North Atlantic Humpback Whale migration.
From February through to April whales from regions of Canada, New England, Iceland and more head to the warmer waters of the Caribbean. It is here that they give birth to their calves and mate. Their migratory travel provides the extraordinary opportunity to watch countless whales as they pass through the channel near Grand Turk and Salt Cay. And as an added bonus humpbacks stay near the surface of the water during migration, making them way more visible than at other times of year.
Did you know that the North Atlantic Humpback Whale can weigh as much as 80,000 lbs (36,000 kgs) and can be as long as 60 ft (18 m)? Their sheer size is something to see, let alone their tendency to breech!
The whales draw travelers from all over the globe. With only a few weeks left in the migration, hurry and take advantage of the rooms we still have available to come and see the nature show for yourself.
