As some of you may already know, the Ike and Donkey Bar gets its name both from Hurricane Ike in 2008, as well as the wild donkeys that roam Grand Turk, a relic from the salt raking era. ‘Ike’ and ‘Donkey’ – great name for a bar by the beach!
Here’s where the whales come in: every year Bohio is treated to one of the most spectacular shows from our favourite Beach Bar, the humpback whale migration. These gentle giants pass by as close as 400 yards off shore on their way to their breeding grounds, and it is a sight to see. Of course, it’s not something we can guarantee, since we are at the whim of the whales.
Unfortunately, it’s the end of the year as we know it, at least, when it comes to whale watching from the Ike and Donkey Bar, as the migration ends in April. But if you’re here soon – and if you’re lucky – you’ll get to see it. It’s magical.
The drinks are pretty fantastic too…
